Inspiration

I've spent years avoiding drawing.  Seriously. Years.  Because, I thought I sucked. And, well, I lived with someone who basically thought that using my talents for art wasn't really useful.  So, there was more encouragement to NOT do any.

Over the past year, my boyfriend has been encouraging me at least daily, to "Just do it." Go out and draw, and do what you love, and if you can make money off it, DO IT.

The portrait work, that was an accident, that has turned out to be a bit of a lucrative venture.

For anyone who is interested, commissions are open.  Just send me a message and let me know you're interested!

I take long breaks from posting anything on here, because unlike a lot of the artwork on here, I feel that I'm mediocre, and not worth the time.  That being said, I've also been on the other side of it, where I've seen artwork that I know I can do better than.  THe question then, is how do I get noticed?

I know that I'll never get better at what I do without practice.  And, I'd like to start taking commissions for artwork, but don't really have a following that would take me up on it.  So, what's a guy to do?  At this point, I think the best thing I can do is to continue posting when I can.  Maybe work up a portfolio of the popular things...the Pokemon and Disney stuff that I've posted have been popular.  But, it's the more "original" works that I want to have more of.

I know I kind of put myself into a niche with the Virtual Pet Site work that I've done.  And, as it actually sold a couple of years ago, I expected it to be easy to get back into it.  Not so much.  The market has changed.  I can post and post and post and not even get a "Great job, Steve."

It's just annoying.  And, I know at this point, I'm just rambling and taking out frustrations.  But, yeah, if you're interested in a commission, hit me up! I'm up for some challenges.

It's been literally years since I've done much of anything with my art.  I gave up on Icepets ever wanting me back.  Blizzardpets, while I enjoyed doing work for them, it was difficult to find the time to do volunteer art.  Especially for a game that I lost interest in a long time ago.

I decided though, to go back through an wrack my brain to find the sites that I originally found those sites through.  And, lo and behold, they still exist.  I think that it's been so long that nobody there recognizes me anymore, in spite of the fact that my name has never changed over there...and there was a reboot, in which I managed to snag my actual name as my name.

Anywho, that's why the flux of drawings happened today.  Well, that, and it was a sick day.  But, I decided that it's been long enough, I want to give it a try again.  And, maybe if I'm lucky, get a little bit of exposure with my artwork...and, if I'm lucky, try to make a go of actually doing art for work.  We'll see what happens.

But, for now, I've got a couple of slots open for paid commission work.  Let me know what you're looking for, and we can discuss prices.

That is the question.

I got a new camera a couple weeks ago, and have been taking pictures like crazy.  The question is, whether I want to keep my account to purely artwork done by me, OR whether to add the photographs, which I love...
